New Yorker Jacob Todd undoubtedly belongs to a group of artists worth writing about. Jonathan Lilse’s protégé has done only a few releases so far, his production career these days is probably only blooming though.

His music is a very intelligent breakbeat with progressive and melodic tint. This is what “Lunedi” is like as well. Atmospheric, warm, almost endlessly echoed sounds make the vivid background for plaiting melodies of synths. Respective phrases smoothly penetrate each other forming the truly coherent shape, which fills speakers’ membranes up to the edge. Progressive trance in the best possible show up.

Who else could have remixed the track if not Andrew Kelly, since the original has been sewed as if to match his musical taste? The rhythm section works much heavier here, which adds some dynamism to the track. There’s also a fantastic part of the bass, which appears in the second part of the remix, drawing it from then on with a completely new colour.

Relisys (Josh Wadell) has come up with a different idea. He took samples from 90s, evened the beat out in the middle and finally made the whole thing more dancey. 5 years ago this would be a stormer, it’s going to be a useful thing these days as well though.

Sentient Audio Collective had a great luck to have this track released on their label, as it deserves a vinyl more than most of progressive releases which have been done this year so far.
