We witness here the birth of well known “Balance” series’ electric nephew, trademarked by Australian quality label EQ. And not only EQ, as Gavin Keitel – a name that doesn’t say much to us Europeans – is one of the best underground DJs in the country of free kangaroos. He’s been shaking dancefloors of Darwin and Melbourne for 18 years now, also supporting big international celebrities in front of thousands of fans. The record introduces electric house mood from the very first notes of track “Six” by Inaqui Marin, which smoothly penetrates into a lethal combination of vocal soul music and German unpolished sound – “Pride”. Despite the two mentioned we’ve got also such pearls like “Crying Hero” (known at least from Howells’ GU #27, dub-electric “Jittery Heritage” or lofty “Elektrofant”. The second part of the compilation is a bit more deep and dark. On such a background nicely emphasizes its shine number “Soul Sounds” going into Garnieresque “Rising” from DJ T (please stop copying master Laurent!). Melancholic and even somehow sad ending perfectly finalizes the whole album. It looks like the bonus CD from Fortier’s “seven” has made so big rumble, that the label decided to deal another hit. If the boom for new electro goes by sooner than for schranz we’ll probably see the seventh “Electric” edition as well. I’m a moderate optimist though.
