This CD was released almost a year ago but we got it sent recently. And in this case, better later than never as it would be a pity to overlook such an album. Boogaloo is a lounge in Brooklyn with regular appearances of Deepak Sharma who created a trip through – as many could think – completely non-American sounds.
But it seems that at 3:23 PM Boogaloo is taken over by music from Germany, from labels that are on the list of my favourites like Shitkatapult, Traum, Trapez, Areal and Boxer. Deepak leads us subtly through ingenious tech house and warm minimal techno, which present a great soundtrack for mornings after parties and filled with illegal smoke evenings. Except for some mixes of melodies and pads (like between tracks 3 and 4) this side of the release is on a good level and tunes like “The Morris Jesup Rise”, “Rakkaus Pakkaus”, ”Expired” or “Foam Over” place it on the highest shelve when it comes to repertoire.
Looking forward to hearing the “Brooklyn 3:23AM”.
