Heretic - 1.0

Paolo Mojo has recently become one of the most eminent DJs. He’s been climbing the career grades reaching peak after peak. And Cass, after the very promising beginning of the duo with Slide, decided to have some rest from the case and took up arranging his house. Now he returns as a half of Heretic, and I must admin to me this has been a long awaited come back.

After a few minutes of listening I have been immediately convinced that it was worth awaiting. 17 tracks indicates quite a dose of mixing, and their skills in that matter can be still followed by all DJs who think they are already well trained. The next worth mentioning thing is the layout of the mix, in which melodic accents have been spread out to form peaks of the musical sinusoid. And finally the music. Killers represented by “Don’t See the Point”, “Soul Trader” and slightly electric “Smell of Sweat” have been alternated with minimal freaks like “Bat In My Shoe” (I swear this track kicks really hard on the dancefloor!), “Pop Locking”, or “Change”. The icing has been made of funky ballad “Don’t Bother Me”, together with a sonata for drums, space ship and guitar “Why Are The Pretty Ones Always Insane”. The work has been crowned by fantastic electro composition “Kill Rock N Roll (Let In Bleed)”.

That’s not a kind of record for kids who can’t find anything good in music with no catchy progressive melodies. I’m happy though, as music of such high quality is not very easy to find.
