„Back 2 Back Sessions” is a herald of a new compilation series from Swift and Klik Records. G.Pal, together with Anna Maria, were visiting Poland last year, playing gigs in already closed Sonobar and doing very well Klatka. The audience of both clubs will confirm that both DJs prepared delicious musical feasts, and that Anna Maria wasn’t any worse than her famous husband. Let’s see how they have done the compilation. The one starts very promising, with an amazing wailing composition from V-Sag, which smoothly passes into yet harder, almost driving lullaby from Marek. The small final of the successful beginning is a very optimistic and rousing remix of “Night Watch” by Chris Nemno – absolutely the best track on the entire album! But then begins a nightmare, as hopeless vocals of “Lullaby” and “Fire” attack without any warning, like the ocean did to New Orleans. Lyrics like “When you kiss me, when you hold me, when you touch me…” might have been a try to move marital feelings onto a piece of plastic, what finally ended up as a failure. The good taste returns together with “She Turns” remixed by Palash. The track has been out since February, and it’s been constantly arousing my good mood. However, listening further I still have my feelings mixed about the concept. Vocals are poor (at least not terribly poor anymore), but the musical layer impeccable. Interesting thing is, that with the end of “Reflections” a new 4-tracks set begins, and this one I listen to in positive disbelief, although the authors could save us from “Ocean of Blue” acapella. Is this great ending repairing damages from the first much longer part? Unfortunately not. So if you normally feel teased by lyrics and vocals of a Britney Spears kind, please keep yourself away from this record.
