This CD is few months old but we had to write about it, because mixed artists albums filled with excellent music are like collector’s items. And what music is it? An invention of Steve himself, called the Porterhouse. This genre is made of a solid, dancey beat with massive, crazy bass and even less tamed synths that cross the line of good taste from time to time while roaming around the stave. Fortunately, those kitschy trips are almost not being taken by Steve on “Homegrown”. Instead we have an out of tune piano in “Fluffer Nutter”, Thomas Newman alike piano in “Beats N Potatos”, piano solo in “Rage In The Cage” and monsters of arrangements in the form of two old but still strong - „Definite Form” (now we know why this version wasn’t released before) and “Vodka Cranberries”. But the word “monster” refers to almost every track on this album filled with dancefloor shakers. Even though I knew a lot of the tunes before, “Homegrown” instantly forced me to dance around the room. It simply sounds like a soundtrack to a wicked party. Comments[0]
