If you read the interview with Nils Noa, then you probably know that I have acquired the Bermuda Triangle’s album. Two months have passed since that conversation and it’s a shame that I couldn’t find time to review this release. However, don’t think that it’s not worth spending a while on it. Nothing like that! I have spent many hours with this album and I know it off pat. I like listening to “Mooger Fooger” during those long autumn evenings, when the weather outside tells you to stay home and contemplate. These are the evenings when I want to rest from dance music. “Mooger Fooger” is a great retreat from the hammering four to the floor beat. As it accedes to a triangle, the band consists of three members: Jan-Tore Diesen, DJ Ariane and DJ Nils Noa – read the interview with Nils for more info about them. If you are a progressive fan, then the name “Mooger Fooger” should ring a bell, ‘cause a track with the same title appeared on John Digweed’s “MMII” compilation. The track itself was released in 2001 and waited long for being spotted. Let’s get to the point though. The album is basically kept in the musical genre called electronica. However, it’s not this artificial kind of music that you probably imagine when you hear that name. On the contrary! Thanks to live instruments used on “Mooger Fooger” you get the feeling of listening to a live band. Bass, harp, flukes and drums make the sound of the album dreamy and vivid at the same time. Let’s not forget about beautiful vocals present on “Mooger Fooger”. Gentle humming of Selina Grinsted on “Carib” and powerful opera voice of Gjøril Songvoll on “Tay Do 22” are the inseparable elements of the album. The main singer on “Mooger Fooger” is Agnete Kjølsrud who made the “Black Sheep” sound extremely fresh and sent shivers down my spine many a time. I recommend “Mooger Fooger” because it’s an album almost for everyone. If you like downtempo, leftield and ambitious pop music, then Bermuda Triangle is definitely for you. Perfect for lazy evenings, romantic dates and chill out Sundays. Works for me anyway... Comments[1]
