When Gabriel and Dresden told me that Organized Nature was set up to finally release tracks like „Serendipity” I was slightly surprised, because it meant that one of my favourite tunes of the duo couldn’t find a home. Did “Change” had similar problems? That I don’t know.
The Sweedish producer became known for his characteristic sound snatched by labels such as Precinct, Segment and Deep Focus. “Changed” is a departure from doleful melodies and a turn into a techy street. The main engine of the track is a massive, electric bassline based on a original, crazy percussion and contrasted with a synthline over the top. Not bad.
The second mix by Özgür is a nod towards his previous works. Uniquely twisted beats, rustling hats and more smooth flow. Not bad as well.
But judging the Gabriel & Dresden’s mix is a little problem. If originality was the criterion – the drummer with convulsions would deserve a Grammy. Nonetheless, percussive machine gun, invasive synths and general shredding is not really what I would like to hear on a dancefloor.
Check for yourself, though, as this is not an ordinary release.
