Three years after the release of Phil K’s „Balance 004” you can finally say, that all the best tracks from the breakbeat CD are available. “Free” and “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” among others are now being followed by „Kickflip”, formerly known as the “Kickflip Manual”. Sprocket is a joint venture of Phil Smart of Junkbeats and Sameer Sengupt aka Pocket of Poxy Music. “Kickflip” is an atmosphere of a skateboard competition squeezed into a breakbeat tune with a big dose of guitars, sports commentary and skatepark sounds. Very good stuff. Paul Smith aka Smithmonger built his version around a dark breakdown from the original, adding an electrified bassline and some acid samples. Good remix but not as spectacular as the Sprocket’s work. Such tracks are definitely worth waiting. Comments[0]
