There have been quite a few „must have” releases this year, moving with simple perfection. To this group also belongs the newest Border Community release, which by the way shouldn’t be a surprise.
Fairmont is a re-activated after 3 years less techy alias of Canadian producer Jake Fairley, who has already had a number of releases on German labels: Sender Records, Dumb-Unit or Kompakt.
This one is a must for “Gazebo”. That’s a track of that kind, where the most important part is not complex construction, but beautiful melodies. The minimal rhythm section with fast, techy hats and simple, clattering bassline is only the background for a melody able to move even the iceberg. Perfect!
“Gazelle” is a different cup of tea. There are a lot of tracks like this one, it sounds ready for Christmas though. OK, the bells are missing. Will not work on the dancefloor.
If you like this record, please make sure to check also “I Want to See the Sun Come Up”, which has now been released on Echocord-Denmark.
