3 Channels are Deeop and Ketiov – Polish producers that I “discovered” this summer while reading an interview with... Damian Lazarus. Since then, they released their productions on Trenton, Trapez and there are Recognition and a second EP for Crosstown Rebels waiting in line. “I Can’t Speak” used to be my favourite track by the duo but it has just been dethroned. The A side is filled with “2 Dancing Rabbits” – minimal tech house with all sounds working for the rhythmic section of the track. All except great synths and basslines put together in a brilliant way. It’s impossible to describe in few sentences what the 3 Channels came up with. “Base Place” is simpler structurally and sicker when it comes to the atmosphere. It’s calmer, darker, more minimal and the main synths along with the pads could become a soundtrack to a horror movie. This dethroning I mentioned in the beginning was carried out by a party monster called “We Are All a Little Bit”. It starts only with a beat, clicks and a dynamic bassline to become more powerful and spacey as new layers of sounds arrive every minute. Eventually it rips your head off! I’m delighted with this EP and 3 Channels mainly because they try to surprise a listener. Twisted breakdowns and clever ideas incorporated when you don’t expect them – such electronic dance music is definitely in short supply. Comments[0]
