Dave Seaman - The Masters Series Vol.7

Nine compilations on Renaissance and three on Global Underground is only a part of Dave Seaman’s output. The third album from the prestigious Masters series does not surprise anyone, but at the same time nobody hides the fact that the crossbar is very high. Let’s see how a seaman coped with jumping.

Both CDs are filled with huge amount of perfectly mixed great music with a dominance of house in its electric and progressive tint. The first disc is more subtle and balanced – Dave skilfuly juggles with the atmosphere building the pace confidently. We’ve got here the brightly dubby “The Heart's A Lonely Hunter”, dark “Pure” and monstrous “Buy Me” and “2 Da Groove”. I only regret the presence of a cheap crowd pleaser “Tracking Treasure Down”.

The small aversion caused by the last track is quickly forgotten thanks to the beginning of CD two in the form of Paradise Soul. It’s clear that this part is going to be harder and more party oriented. The sound is mainly progressive and energetic house with big amount of floor destroyers i.e. “Don't Walk Away”, “Connected (Dub)”, slightly rural “Dream On” and pretty well remixed hits - “Santiago” and “Stoppage Time”. However, Dave could have done without “I Don’t Know”.

The first CD is more subtle, the second keeps you on your toes more firmly and I have to admit, I can’t decide which one is better. I guess I’ll see what makes me come back more often.
