James Talk - House Rhythm / WiggleWiggleshakeshake

I was quite happy to find out about Spoken, a new label established by James Talk. For the first release of his label James chose two of his own productions, in which he plays and experiments with a variety of dance music genres.

At first it may seem that “House Rhythm” is nothing more than a typical house production, complete with a little cheesy sounding vocal but in fact there is a lot going on in the background. James tames some electro monsters, keeps them caged and calm and lets them surface only for a few brief moments to destroy our first impression. Right after that we’re captured and eaten alive by the groovy basslines and acid synths.

The first track is great however, I prefer the second one in which there is a lot of beautiful acid, glitch and electro sounds and in which James lets his oscillators loose. Every other second my speakers would shoot a new and fantastic bullet at my ears which made me (both, the bullets and ears) do a lot of wiggling, shaking and a little of err.. quacking . Surely, I wiggled as I did only to avoid any serious bodily harm so don’t hold it against me.

A great first release, we hope there are plenty as great to come. All the best to James and his new label.
