This Monday sees the release of the ‘min2MAX’ compilation, which is a follow-up to last year’s ‘Minimize To Maximize’ album. Obviously, the imprint behind this record is the Canadian label Minus with its main driving power in the form of Marc Houle, Troy Pierce, Heartthrob, Gaiser and, more recently, Magda. ‘min2MAX’ refers to the tradition of the minimal techno genre which subscribes to the slightly forgotten rule: to achieve maximum effect using minimal ways of expression. I’d even risk a thesis that a listener who reaches for this album after being delighted by Magda’s melodic and energetic sets may remain disappointed. Nevertheless, it’s worth another listen because we all know that whatever’s hard to reach tastes even better afterwards. Slightly catchier productions from Marc Houle, the Niederluf duet and Loco Dice play the role of appetizers on the album thanks to which, the more sophisticated pieces from Heartthrob, Gaiser and Pierce will shine the full glow in the long run. The newest compilation from this famous Canadian label proves that traditional minimal music is still in very good shape and will undoubtedly gain even more popularity. Comments[0]
