Various Artist - Total 7

I don’t suppose there are any fans of German electronic music out there that aren’t aware of the existence of the Kompakt label. Probably not, because it would be very hard not to hear at least one track from the vast catalogue of the imprint owned by Wolfgang Voigt, Michael Mayer and Jürgen Paape. Sometimes, it’s impossible to keep up with the high frequency of the output and then, with a little help, come the “Total” albums - selections of the tastiest bits from Kompakt and its sublabels.

The 7th installment of this annual series as usual consists of some favourite singles of the past year and several exclusive new tracks. Almost every tune is a value in itself, which is probably one of the reasons why “Total” is an unmixed compilation. So there is no point in mentioning the exceptional tracks, because all you have to do is look at the tracklisting, which predominantely comprises of such productions. I’ll only restrain myself to the ones that put the strongest spell on me, i.e. the warm, calm and imaginary “Pearly Spencer”, “When She Said Goodbye”, “Sonntag” and the more vivid “Take That” and “Tranceformation”.
