Last year in June, Nermal wrote about a “laser debut” from the Greek label Underground Lessons with unconcealed surprise, mainly because of a very successful record from Leoni. The ‘Collexion’ compilation is another great album from the same artist.

The album is kept in the mood of progressive and deep house, yet it is dyed with shades of trance and stunning melodies, and creates an electrifying impression even at the first listening. Positively inclining compositions (with ‘Self Addicted’ at the very top) call up the unforgettable atmosphere of Warsaw’s underground clubs from a couple of years ago. Despite of that, the record sounds fresh and is the best thing to prove that progressive is still doing quite well in countries like Greece. One could, in fact, reproach Leoni for his approach to the mixing. Well, I was even in some parts wondering if this is really a mixed compilation, but you’ll forget all those “not-the-best” transitions after a few seconds of the following track. All in all, ‘Collexion’ is a fabulous production, where almost every song is a unique story told with deftly collected notes. A “should have!”
