I won’t waste any time and space to introduce a star like Anders Trentemøller. However, one of the masters of producing dancefloor shakers decided to make a little surprise with his debut artist album. I have to admit that I felt a bit tired with the amount of Anders’ music being frequently played out. “The machine” – his characteristic rhythm section - is clearly brilliant, but there was simply too much of it. On “The Last Resort” we hear it in a much slower take as the album is definitely more downtempo and electronica than dance. The tempo rises at times but the general atmosphere is placed in an armchair. We still have his trademark sounds but the arrangements are totally new. Lots of guitars, live instruments and synths work closely together in fantastic and diverse compositions showing Anders’ amazing production skills. “The Last Resort” is not a cluster of amazing tunes – you can clearly hear that all the tracks are supposed to compliment one another, which they do from start to finish. You can also get a limited Bonus CD, which is an unmixed compilation of Anders’ biggest hits. As far as there’s no singing on the main disk, here you’ll find two new tracks in vocal versions. “Moan” and “Always Something Better” in Trentemøller’s Mix are truly captivating. Comments[0]
