Electric, the Balance series’ younger brother, was launched timidly with one CD from Gavin Keitel. The second release is made by the first league of producers with five people at the helm: Matthew Roberts & Matt Thomas aka King Unique and Jason Catherine, Michael Walburgh & Danny Bonnici aka NuBreed. King Unique’s CD grasps attention no sooner than the fourth and fifth tracks which make a stir with their dark and defiant nature. From this moment on, the disk would be a great pleasure if it wasn’t for the series of well known productions like “Zoom In”, “Rancho Relaxo”, “In Between Days” and “In White Rooms”. Actually, till the very end of the CD there’s only one track – “Quantised Traffic” - that hasn’t been often present in other artists’ sets, which makes the overall note lower despite excellent programming and mixing. The two Matts could have applied themselves more to the digging process. As befits a second CD, NuBreed don’t wait and hit hard with the great “Nitefall”. The synths and basslines place this disc closer to the series’ title and the dirt & fractures with tracks like “Audio Deamon”, “Subtronic”, “Cyborg”, “Backdoor” or “He Doesn't Love You” make it a full on party album. It would be almost flawless if it wasn’t for the rendez-vous with D.Ramirez which causes a mild headache. Comments[0]
