If you’re not a DJ and you do not enjoy CDs full of singles with mix ins and mix outs, ‘Freakazoid’ is definitely not for you. Cr2 decided to proudly present its 20 year old wonder boy and release his artist album not long after the world heard his first productions. The press release holds some comparisons with Trentemøller but the writer went way too far.
Firstly, a lot of time past and many hits were released until we heard Anders’ album. He must have known that such a CD is an artistic statement – a manifest of what he is capable of. So, instead of flooding us with another dose of party oriented stuff, he decided to make a surprise with mature and diverse material.
Whereas ‘Freakazoid’ is a monotonous mixture of unmixed electro house tracks that don’t differ from one another too much. It’s really hard to listen to the CD from start to finish and I can’t place this release among other artist albums. For me it’s more a set of singles made for DJs. I don’t deny that Danny’s got talent, because some of the tracks are quite good. But I think that he hasn’t grown up to release an album yet. I’m only confused that such a label as Cr2 chose to shoot its own foot. Or maybe they care only about DJs?
