We haven’t seen trance music on Sound Revolt for a long while. Today, the genre is mainly identified with entertainment for non ambitious listeners, which is a long way from this site’s profile. But saying that trance is only about lasers and cheese would be unjust. There are producers who still keep in touch with good taste and the underground. ‘Changing Frames’ is the next album of Micha Yossef aka Echotek, who has been on the scene for the last 10 years. His latest CD is made of experience and the will to refresh the stale genre a bit. Micha skillfully mixes psychedelic with progressive trance, which gives the old school new driving power. As usual, the best tracks are the ones made to surprise listeners. Proof of Echotek’s imagination is clearly audible in very nice twists and turning points in ‘M12’, ‘Step On It’ and the slightly cheesy ‘Time & Space’. And even though Micha’s formula gets a bit dull as we get closer to the end of the album, ‘Changing Frames’ is still a great soundtrack for fast driving. Comments[0]
