The first ‘Renaissance Prestents’ compilation from Nic Fanciulli was released more or less a year ago, when the slightly acid and heavily twisted house presented by the artist was in high demand. Since that time, Nic has gained one more year of experience, so let’s see whether his new album confirms that. The beginning of the first record is disturbingly good. The three introducing numbers, with the slightly Iberian and surrounding ‘House & Art’ at the end, bring hope for something more than “just” a party compilation. Unfortunately to me, Nic further plays exactly like he does at the club. I’m not saying that it’s wrong, but I did expect the track selection to be more sophisticated. Too bad that truly valuable tracks are almost nonexistent. Nevertheless, it is a DJ mix which proves Fanciulli’s perfect ability to boil the dancefloor. Summing up, it’s a very good item, but without any surprises. Well, only if you don’t count the unpleasant one in the form of the hopeless ‘Ride the Pony’.
