This album was awaited by many. The American Jeff Samuel has been releasing tracks for the last 7 years, and he probably thought it was high time to show that he’s more than singles and remixes. Indeed, the time was right. The CD is opened with one of my front-runners for the top 5 of the best tracks of 2006. As time passes, the melody of ‘Those Were The Days’ consistently denies to become dull. However, this track is no anomaly here, because ‘Step’ keeps the highest standards till its very end. Jeff is a complete producer – he’s able to create catchy synth lines, paint atmospheric spaces and put everything over well programmed rhythm sections. 7 tunes from the CD are also available on the vinyl LP, which is a great solution for DJs willing to have a package of such useful tracks as the aforementioned ‘Those Were The Days’ or ‘You Will Never Know’, ‘The Cave’ and ‘Off The Mark’. But lovers of the black disk will miss the contemplating aura of ‘I Think They Are Tryng To Say Something’, so I’ll stick to the silver one. Comments[0]
