Various - Pokerflat Volume 5 - Bets'n'Bluffs

Poker Flat is one of the most significant brands on not only the German tech and minimal house market. Steve Bug, by having gathered around himself players like Martin Landsky, John Tejada or Guido Schneider, has achieved unquestionable success over the last 7 years of the imprint’s activity.

The first CD of the fifth edition of the compilation summarizes yet another very successful year for the label. Most of the tracks, especially the more melodic ones like ‘Spoonful of Lovin’ or ‘Always Something Better’, will be recognized after the first notes. The core of the album is formed, however, by slightly more minimal tracks. This record will not get overplayed easily, because tracks like ‘Love Dose’, ‘Petit Cirque’ or ‘Asanebo’ can be enjoyed forever.

The second CD, a DJ mix, was put together by Martin Landsky, the guy that was already mentioned in the introduction. Martin has been connected with the label almost since its beginning and it seems that he was the right man for the job. He did not disappoint. I’d say more, it’s the best 70 minutes of music he’s ever compiled and released! You will swallow the record in one piece, as there’s no weak points but instead a number of great tracks, just to mention only the ones I like the most: ‘Alien Experiments’, ‘Cantina’, ‘Onehundredandthree Eggs’, ‘1000 Miles’, ‘Sei’.

It’s a great item and an admirable closing of the year.
