Chris Coco and Rob Da Bank are masters of variety and indefatigable seekers of musical pearls. They sacrifice huge amounts of time to comb through sometimes completely unvisited corners to bring their listeners the greatest bits of sounds. “Listen Again” is like loot which Chris and Rob share with us – a gift for those who love to be surprised by music.
This album is an invaluable treasure for listeners like me – electronic music buffs who don’t have the time for long escapades into other regions. “Listen Again” saves loads of effort – thanks to it, I know what to look for in a music store. Josh Rouse, Adem, Hess Is More, E Berg, Bobbie Marie… These are not debutants and yet I’ve never heard of them before. Plus, they come with a cocktail of unique recordings from the BBC Maida Vale studios and known tracks reworked really well by Skewiff, Roots Manuva and Hulkkonen. Indie rock, rock & roll, trip hop, reggae/ dub, downtempo, dance, folk – this album is seriously diverse.
“Listen Again” is a perfect release for leisure and mood improvement. I’ve never met Chris and Rob personally, but judging from the musical jokes implemented on the album, I’m pretty sure we would find a mutual language.
