First time I saw and heard Hernan Cattaneo was at Czech Creamfields festival in 2002 and since then I’m a big fan of his musical taste. From the beginning of his career, Hernan develops his artistry to build more and more interesting sets. Among other things, that was one of the reasons that the compilation “Renaissance – The Masters Series” was one of my three the most awaited winter albums. The way that Cattaneo chose to lead a listener through over 150 minutes of musical journey deserves all the credits. The tracks and their order have been selected to balance pressure from quite low to a very high level in few minute cycles. In a first, very calm part pays attention Richard Davis’ track, “In the Air”, with its perfect vocals. It’s getting heavier and darker when first sounds of “Home” arrive, a very warm piece with an exquisite melody of bass line. Since about melodies, let me advise, not to say cheerful remix by 16B of “Bubblebath”. This one lightens the mix atmosphere when it comes to an end. The second CD is opened by an excellent, uniquely sounded Chab’s production with quite interesting vocals from JD Davis. Yet another successful progressive song! Here’s one more to contrast – equipped with pleasantly sweet female vocals of Astrid Suryato – “All I Know”. There’s also a very favorable presentation of two Australians: Luke Chable and his new track called “The Sheppard” and inspired by Yunus (listen to the percussion!), Steve May. Everything would be fine if not the kitschy “Age of Love” appearance. Anyway, I’ve listened to the album over 40 times now and I’m yet not bored of it! Maybe because there’s a bit of everything on it: from chill-out, romantic productions up to energetic pills crushing with piercing bass and heavy drums. There’s also a big Cattaneo’s pressure to emanate with positive vibrations, which has been achieved mainly by the matter of cheerful but still original melodies. Comments[1]
