Justin Martin - Chaos Restored

Justin Martin made a name for himself after the release of his deep house record ‘The Sad Piano’ in 2003. However, it was only recently that this American producer started DJing . ‘Chaos Restored’ is his first attempt at a DJ mix.

The album’s beginning is disappointing. The humorous (not to say simpering) intro and the two populist tracks from Martin, which were probably produced to be played at parties at accommodated assembly hangars, can successfully put a listener off from listening any further. Martin fortunately recalled how to build up tension in a set, and not make you tired of overly ravey shenanigans from the get go by reaching for ‘Drug Games’. Having carried out this plan, he serves very decent numbers one after another, mixing genres like minimal, tech and deep house. He finishes off with great remixes of ‘Crack-El’ and ‘Tricky Disco’, of which particularly the second one requires bigger attention. The record is closed by the noteworthy, less dancey and more experimental production, ‘Elephant Fight’.

The record can be really good on condition you start to listen to it from the fifth track. If Justin accepts these words of criticism, his next album will be enjoyable from start to finish.
