After the brilliant first two disc mix in the ‘Get Lost’ series by Damian Lazarus and Mathew Styles, the eleven month wait for the second installment seemed excruciatingly long. But it was well worth it as Jamie Jones’ effort will undeniably go on to become one of this year’s finest. Six months after the release of ‘Get Lost 2’, it is now time for the next part. Chilean born Dinky, who is best known for her 2005 hit ‘Acid In My Fridge’ on Cocoon, was recruited to compile and mix the third CD, and her stellar effort more than lives up to the ‘Get Lost’ tradition – if you can even talk about tradition after 3 releases – of perfect track selection. Alejandra Iglesias’ mix is a journey through many shades of techno and tech house, during which she manages to skillfully manipulate a listener by very often shifting and switching (sometimes very slightly, sometimes drastically) the mood and overall atmosphere. You simply can never be too sure where you’re going to end up when it’s all over, because neither the pleasant, more positive and slightly funkier vibe nor the dark and murky aura ever last for too long. What’s more, she also throws in some Latin American flare and a sound or two straight from Egiptian folk music to shake things up a bit. Although such diversity may seem a little odd at first, at closer inspection it is what makes this CD stand out from the rest. Few DJs can successfully mix such a variety of tracks and not make it yet another failed attempt at piecing varied tracks together along the way. ‘Get Lost 3’ isn’t the most obvious and easiest of listens, but it is marvelous. In a word, it is everything that I have come to expect from the series, and I will continue to expect no less from it in the future.
