‘Intermission’ is a romantic, seeped with eroticism meeting place of the Parisian producer Alain Ho and an artist from New York, Astrid Suryanto. The main concept of the album is to try to illustrate the feelings that grow around a relationship in which one of the sides is not totally happy. And indeed, the record can’t be seen as joyful. Despite the first notes which bring about associations with mainstream trance, the main sound on the album is imbued with melancholy. ‘Intermission’ is a true musical gem. The rich arrangements of the swingy jazzy compositions have been harmoniously coupled with the poignant vocals of Astrid. All of it amounts to the very high artistic value of the record. You will find even more value if you listen, for example, to the brilliant percussion parts on ‘Strongly’ or the emanating with poetics and dreamy aura of ‘Angel’s Part’. But it’s definitely the whole picture that makes up the record’s richness. Despite the sometimes bitter sounds of ‘Intermission’, I can easily say that it will become one of my favourite albums to listen to in the spring. Comments[0]
