Jon Sa Trinxa has for a long time now been an integral part of Sa
Trinxa bar in Ibiza, which is where he continued his DJing career after
he left England in 1994. Currently, he’s a man who has almost 50 years
of life experience and a number of chill-out compilations in his
discography. And all of them were made in Ibiza, which to a European clubber is of the same importance as Disneyland to a kid growing up. And honestly, for me that is usually enough reason to stay away from records with pictures of semi naked women on the cover. In both situations, brand very often doesn’t go hand in hand with quality and sex is only used to increase sales.
Sa Trinxa’s album is, however, different and it did managed to grab my attention. Maybe it’s because the record does not have that much in common with club music, unless we count the fact that it is a great retreat from the latter. An Exaggeration? There are some pure electronic tracks on the compilation, just to mention Henrik Schwarz’s interpretation of ‘Zumbi’ or ‘Tita’ from Bucci. However, the core of the album is made of funky-soul-jazz productions very often supported by acoustic guitar riffs, and it makes the record sound truly Balearic. Sa Trixa’s compilation has enough diversity to place it in the “will suit everyone” category. Additionally, it will be a perfect soundtrack for the summer sun, beachs and cocktails with umbrellas.
