My reaction to the first part of 'Involver' was a lot like a visit to Krakow, which undoubtedly is the most interesting Polish city, but forces pretty much all DJs to buy records by following Bert & Igor's selections before playing there. The cause of this state of affairs are tourists or, in principle, due to the fact that the city tries to be nice to everyone. Because of all the crap that comes out of speakers there, if someone were to conduct a poll of clubs worth visiting in Poland, those in Krakow would rank somewhere in the hundreds, right behind those located in Radom.

And I find Sasha's case to be rather similar. The all the then very popular Brit pop vocals in the background of some very decent electronic productions that were included on the first part of 'Involver' where supposed to help the record break into the Billboard Hot 100. However, the album didn't even challenge 'Airdrawndagger' which managed to climb to 157th place in 2002. I guess it's because the artistic value of Sasha's remixes can be placed on one shelf with the handicraft of Cepelia.

It was rather irrational to expect any kind of a breakthrough from the follow-up and, according to my expectations, 'Invol2ver' is as pallid and bland as a pudding with lard. Sasha possesses the incredible ability to deprive interesting tracks of all the elements that accounted for their uniqueness in the first place. He also knows how to loop instrumental parts, the result of which are productions that seem to wear on forever. . Thanks to all the mentioned above, the numbers marked with the 'Invol2ver Remix' label sound as shabby as 'I'll Be Missing You' in Puff Daddy's interpretation.

However, in stark contrast to the soppy remixes there are 2 tracks that stand out: 'Eclipse' and 'Midnight'. In these, unlike the rest on the disc, I find not only good arrangements, but also some mysteriousness. A good rating could be also given to '3 Little Pigs', if it didn't sound like nothing more than a copy of The Field's output.

To recap, 'Invol2ver' will defend itself wherever the reason of state is 4x4 music and everything else is seen as heresy. In my world, though, the person behind 'The Eraser - Invol2ver Remix' should be denied the privilege of making music forever.
