It's unbelievable that such a limited arsenal of sounds that is at the disposal of musicians creating in the widely comprehended minimal genre still allows them to produce stellar records. The key to success may not just be talent and creativity, but also thorough musical education, which is something that Marcin Czubala can pride himself about.
‘Chronicles of Never’ is the second album from Marcin, but undoubtedly different from the released in 2001 ‘Dope’. Czubala’s talent has evolved to such a level that the productions from ‘Chronicles...’ could boldly be placed in the same row as the output of artists like Hawtin, Heartthrob or Troy Pierce. In principle, most of his tracks sound exactly as if they were recorded specially for the Minus label. However, the straightforward associations do not derogate the class of Czubala’s album in any way, and that is mostly due to the fact that while he was looking for ideas, he swam much deeper into the ocean of arrangements. You will easily become convinced after listening to some of the simply captivating tracks, like ‘Berolina’, ‘Los Companeros’, ‘Spectacles for Humans’, or to the closing track, ‘Be Water’.
