Phil K, Dave Seaman and Renaissance – such a combo makes you expect something amazing for sure. The first artist mentioned is a Melbourne’s breakbeat star known for his forth instalment of the Balance series whereas Dave and Renaissance need no introduction. Soon after the excellent Cattaneo’s “Master Series” we are supplied with two CDs that definitely deserve some attention. First one was done by Seaman who again shows his ability to make a good compilation. This CD is made up of excellent progressive and house tunes. It’s hard to name the best ones as Dave put each one of them in a perfect place so they all sound superb. Even the fact that I knew most of them before wasn’t disturbing. Except for “The Push”, which appearance on this album is pointless and spoils the overall impression. I’m curious how long will I be able to listen to this CD as it consists of tracks that are smash hits or trying to be ones. The Seaman’s part is threatened with death by overplaying but time will show. As you probably figured it out, the second CD was done by Phil and unsurprisingly it’s made of breaks. This part of the therapy would be blameless if it wasn’t for those unbearable minutes in the middle of it. That goes for Habersham’s “Follow The White Rabbit” which is the flip side of the “Transparent Sound” vinyl – released by Dave’s own Audio Therapy label. One producer and two completely different productions. The beauty and the beast. Luckily, one smooth touch of the skip button and we’re back on the tracks of a great album. An album that develops beautifully and leads to an astonishing finish. Before we get there though, we are attacked by 3 killer songs and it’s the situation very similar to the one on “Balance 004”. This time I bow towards Nubreed for “One Day” and the remix of “Born Too Slow” and towards PQM for “They Just Won't Let Me Be”. Singing and screaming while listening to these tunes is absolutely understandable and permitted. I can’t tell you which CD is better so let’s make it a draw. Both guys did a great job.
