Flash Brothers - Ways

I won’t introduce the Flaishlers here at Sound Revolt as they were one of the first artists on our website. We wrote about the Middle East, about their work on the “Fear of...” compilation and we interviewed them before their gig in Lodz. Flash Brothers have had a very big influence on us and on the progressive music and recently they have released a single on one of our favourite labels – Silver Planet.

Quite a daring single, because the vocal on “Ways” is out of key. Soft progressive beat combined with an interesting bass line is suddenly torn apart by a woman’s singing that gets on my nerves a bit. A similar maneuver to the one M.A.S. Collective applied on their remix of Pheobe’s “Could I See”, which I also couldn’t really get. However, even though my ears can’t bear the vocals, I congratulate the Flash Brothers their courage and I’m very curious how the track works on the dancefloor.

The remixing task was given to the man who’s currently compiling the third installment of the “Fear Of The Silver Planet” series. Chris Salt brought the track back to the key, nicely broke the beat and infused it with his unique sound. Or synths should I say, ‘cause their arrangements are complex and excellent. Bass on the verge of a solo improvisation also proves the musical maturity of Chris. There’s loads of good things going on in Salt’s remix and I recommend the whole release.
