No, it’s not an illusion. It’s Flash Brothers again. Reviews of their music are not novelties on Sound Revolt just like “Protect The Sense” is nothing new. Some of you should remember this gorgeous track from Digweed’s “MMII” compilation. Two years after the release it finally shows up on vinyl and it’s good to hear that it didn’t become stale too much. Dynamic beat interrupted by a long breakdown with a melody that arises and plays first fiddle almost till the very end – that’s mainly all there is to say about the original. However, after a listen you’ll know why John Digweed chose it for his album.
Screen Recordings is owned by Stefano Greppi and the fact that his very talented fellow countrymen got the job to remix “Protect The Sense” should not surprise. M.A.S. Collective’s version is a bit slower, more complex and fresh. You can hear the generation gap between both sides of the vinyl. The breakdown is much shorter and the melody clearer. The Italians made the track more vivid ‘cause there’s something happening in it almost all the time. Summing up: the new face of “Protect The Sense” with the immortal classic make this release a very desired thing to own.
