I must admit that my opinion on DJ Chris Fortier hadn’t been formed till the moment we visited a great party in Budapest, where the man himself literally swept us off the dancefloor! Since then, the “Audio Tour” became one of the most awaited compilation of the year. Finally I got it! “ABE” which opens the album is one of the tracks which in its original version already sound like a remix, and I’m still not sure whether I like it or not. However it is the strongest vocal accent on the compilation, where Fortier has opened not only one musical drawer. And that’s the point, on the record you will find almost everything what’s being played in the dance music, starting from slightly breaky house rhythms, going through progressive, up to American trance progressive. And progressive is the part I’m going to focus on now for a while, because it’s the dominating genre in the Fortier’s audio tour. It is in some points hellish strong and not to say psychedelic music, rich in surprising turns and incredibly well mixed tracks. At this place I wish to point a track from The Alley Qats – a true pearl of chaos, and also the two following tracks, my favourite “L’Èvasion” from Chris Micali and “G In Your Glow” from Scott McFadyen. The second part of the CD becomes more and more trancey, but in a way I like, in the American way, with a small final in the form of D-Shake – “Yaaaah”, a remixed hit of 2002. Then appears the entirely trance part with an average remix of “So Good” and finishing the compilation track “Separation”. First of all, the most fascinating part of the CD is in its centre, where Fortier drives progressive for over 40 minutes. I find it quite hard to accept the vocals from Motive, and I firmly protest against howling in “So Good”. Those of you who like such things may also like the whole CD.
