Lostep - Burma (The Remixes)

Here’s yet another release from the new label GU [Music], which is to be a continuator of the last Sasha’s album – “Involver”. This is the record where we could have listened to this “Burma” remix for the first time.

Having my chance to review the album mentioned above I wrote, that the remix is boring. And indeed, comparing this work to the original version I still notice a great difference in the both tracks’ drama. Sasha has made this track too “straighten”, which makes me forgetting that I’m listening to it not later that after 3 minutes. To make such remix from such a great original may not be a big trick for a pretty good producer. There’s unfortunately a lack of idea.

On the flip side, the boys from Trafik have shown that they had an idea to do the remix. They decided to expose this dark part of “Burma” and the effect is far way better! Some of the themes has been played backwards which makes their work even more cranky.

I still choose the original from all the versions I’ve heard. That’s not all. I judge, that if there’s a need to do a remix of such a characteristic track, it’s not enough to make it slightly different. It’s better to keep hands off the original and maybe to try something new from scratch?
