Those Greeks are lucky. Even before the Olympic games their shop shelf has seen a compilation from an artist, whose name bear almost all the progressive lips in the World. The subject was of course G.Pal, whose brand new medley will be released on Swift Records in the whole Europe very soon. The compilation opens a herald of the new project of George and his wife Anna Maria called Lovechild. Attention, in this short piece you’ll here singing G.Pal for the first time, and singing Anna Maria, but already know her voice from the “Ocean of Blue”. There are lots of vocals on the album generally, and for the most part it is a good singing. I’d like to call here “Protection” in its best remix, and “Cages” in a very good production from Mr. Lemon8. Unfortunately there are also slip-ups, like for example those vocals on “I Don’t Know”, which with a sound of miserable Ozzy Osbourne fake insolently destroys the atmosphere being built from the very first minutes. If it wasn’t I would probably pull my hair out with the first samples of M.O.S. because the music here can really make you crazy, once because of dark progressive drives, and another time with massive tribal attacks. It’s worth mentioning the new track from El Greco (another Pallikaris’ alias), where this time the author took a song from the Orthodox church. I wonder if there’s going to be a row in Greece because of it. In my personal feeling the compilation should end up differently. I don’t know why G.Pal chose Filterheadz instead of a more sophisticated work. For me there’s also a lack of something what I would call like understatement, a track which would push me to play the CD from its beginning and listen to it 10 times in a row. Pig & Dan with the track “People” also do not fulfil the task, though Nermal will probably pull my head off for that statement. The fact is, that G.Pal/1 is one of my favourite compilations of the last few weeks and I listen to it with bated breath with a small break for a wafer. There’s also a bonus CD included, where you will find unmixed tracks from the future Swift Records catalogue. A great idea to take people away from Soulseek as you can have some single tracks legally. Comments[0]
