Kitsuné in Japanese mythology means ‘Fox’. A fox which is possessed with magical abilities. Foxes are a common subject in Japanese folklore, especially these days when they are used in cartoons and computer games. The popularity of this image is also used by one clothing corporation. Kitsuné Maison is a French brand whose symbol is a fox. This fox is a sign of fashion for a lot of kids from this country of wine. Kitsuné Music is a label interested in music that sounds like house, electro and synth pop. The interaction between music and fashion has these days become a common method of advertising. The benefits seem to be great for both parties. Nobody loses out here. The best example is Hed Kandi, which is a well-known brand; though not necessarily a music brand, it is still a prosperous business.

So now here comes the eighth part of the Kitsuné Maison music series. I have to admit I felt as though I were walking through a clothing store whilst listening to this album. As soon as I walked in I saw some old school trousers and crossed shirts, just like the ones that John Travolta used to wear in ‘Saturday Night Fever’. I saw it because of the sweet neo disco sound of the ‘French Horn Rebellion’. Then I walked to the shelf where I saw some suit trousers and shirts with rolled-up sleeves. This is how Ian Curtis used to dress during his concerts. I had these associations because of the baseline from ‘Let’s Go Surfing’, which reminded me of the best moments of Joy Division.
I came to a halt near the stuff that had a candy sound, like Vanessa Paradis (Parallels – ‘Find the Fire’). I had visions of Ewan McGregor from ‘Trainspotting’ running through the city. It was a memory formed by Delphic with its ‘This Momentary’ which is present almost everywhere. ‘This Momentary’ sounds like everything that is good about the Underworld. However, this song sounds so fresh thanks to the soft vocals.

I have to agree, this store is very colourful. Sometimes the walk rough seems to be exhausting because of the stuff on show for the mass audience, but at times it can be exhilarating like the beating heart of a schoolboy who walks into a sex-shop for the very first time. These emotions bring ‘Brutal Weapons’ and ‘Maximus’.

In spite of its huge diversity, the album gives a clear message to all brand receivers. Despite it being too sickly sweet at times, I think it’s the perfect antidote to a bad mood caused by the cloudy autumn weather. These positive sounds can really recharge your batteries. Fans of the brand won’t be disappointed.
