Starting with EPs for well‐known quality labels such as Eskimo Recordings and Connaisseur, Wareika (Jakob Seidensticker, Florian Schirmacher and Henrik Raabe ) take it one step further living up to the Danish‐German relationship by bringing their overview of outstanding musical pieces to Tartelet Records.
Wareika’s work has inspired people around the world who like to listen closely, like Ricardo Villalobos, who contributed a remix to their jazz‐meets‐techno epos ‘King’s Child’, lately compared to St. Germain's greatest moments and recently released on Motivbank. They already released some stunning tracks on Tartelet Records to introduce the album: ‘Ascending, Descending’, a trip to the world of 7/8 rhythms, and the way‐down‐to‐Africa 5/4 groove caravan ‘Baracuda’, a fish able to swim in the sand.
Wareika created ‘Formation’ back to back as a band. They picked up some field recordings, solo piano interludes and even did ‘Men Village’ in a live version. There’s also ‘One Nation’ in a special album version, and of course the rare 10 minutes jazzistic improvisation on ‘Riders on the Storm’.
Wareika’s ‘Formation’ will be released on February 15th, 2010.
